Metro is seeking a Safety Supervisor to administer the company's Transportation Safety Program at assigned location.

Effective January 1, 2016, The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority/Metro will not hire nicotine users. All candidates for hire extended an offer of employment will be required to successfully pass a nicotine screening as a condition of employment


  • Investigate accidents including equipment and routes to determine preventability, cause and recommend necessary post-accident actions.
  • Recognize and offer solutions to safety complaints and issues.
  • Chairs and oversees Safety Committee, including safety improvement activities and field exercises.
  • Works with Transit Operations to incorporate safety into operational procedures.
  • Maintains system safety records in accordance with the applicable records retention schedule.
  • Monitors compliance with federal, state, and local safety codes and regulations and inspections.
  • Publishes passenger and employee safety statistics.
  • Assists with identification of hazards associated with the system.
  • Evaluates identified hazards and design action to eliminate or minimize and control the hazards.
  • Conducts system safety audits.
  • Promotes accident prevention.
  • Evaluates system operations for incorporation of adequate safety measure.
  • Performs trial trips of new operators.
  • Supplements Remedial/Refresher/Return-to-Work Training.
  • Facilitate the development of strategies to meet or exceed organizational and department performance goals and objectives, monitor results, and recognize employee, department and organization accomplishments.
  • Model, facilitate and encourage exemplary internal and external customer service, open communication, collaboration, participation and professional development among staff.

  • Ability to work in compliance with Metro's safety and security policies.

  • Proficiency - Able to multi-task, plan and measure results, create and analyze data, excellent computer skills, accuracy and attention to detail, excellent project management skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) preferred.
  • Five or more years related experience.
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation programs, internet, and email. 
  • National Safety Council DDC Certificate.
  • Transportation Safety Institute Courses in Accident Investigation.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Familiarity of Metro's buses and equipment
  • Involvement in the National Safety Council desired.
