Metro is seeking an Operations Training Manager who will be responsible for day-to-day management of transportation-related operator training including but not limited to: New Bus Operator Training, Remedial Training, Refresher Training and Return-to-Work Training.

Effective January 1, 2016, The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority/Metro will not hire nicotine users. All candidates extended an offer of employment will be required to successfully pass a nicotine screening as a condition of employment.


  • Supervise Transportation Training Specialists
  • Supervise New Coach Operator Training Program
  • Coordinate return-to-work training between, Transit Operations, Human Resources and Training Specialist's
  • Facilitate Operator refresher training including but not limited to: safety, security, customer service, fare box and fare media, customer service, defensive driving or other topics as directed.
  • Facilitate other training as needed (e.g. Road Supervisors, Dispatch, etc.)
  • Work with key stake holders including but not limited to: safety, security, customer service to develop training curriculum for Operator Training
  • Coordinate requested remedial or refresher training between Operations and Training Specialist's
  • Supplement training personnel by performing training activities
  • Manage training budget
  • Ensure Training Standard Operating Procedures are followed and adhered to
  • Monitors performance and attendance, and executes employee recognition, commendation, and discipline
  • Ability to work in compliance with Metro's security policies.
  • Model, facilitate and encourage exemplary internal and external customer service, open communication, collaboration, participation and professional development among staff.

  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) in a transportation or education- related discipline preferred.Minimum of five years' experience in urban bus transportationKnowledgeable of federal, state transportation regulations and programs (DOT, FTA, ODOT).
  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation programs, internet, and email.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • National Safety Council DDC Instructor
  • Nationally Recognized Training Instructor (e.g. Transportation Safety Institute).
  • CDL preferred.
